Taos & Northern New Mexico
Intimate ceremonies at the Rio Grande Gorge, Diablo Canyon, and the high desert of northern New Mexico. Just the two of you — and the terrain doing the rest.
Check AvailabilityTaos draws elopement couples for one reason above all: the terrain is genuinely extraordinary, and it's accessible. You don't need a helicopter or a 10-mile hike to stand at the edge of a 650-foot gorge with the Rio Grande below you. You park, you walk five minutes, and you're in one of the most dramatic natural settings in the American Southwest.
I've photographed elopements at the Rio Grande Gorge, Diablo Canyon, the hills above Arroyo Seco, and remote BLM land throughout the Taos region. Each location has its own character, its own light conditions, and its own set of logistics — and I know all of them well enough to help you choose based on your vision.
"We wanted just us and the gorge. Casey made that happen perfectly — he knew exactly where to stand, when to shoot, and when to just let us be."— Past client, Rio Grande Gorge elopement
Elopement packages start at $1,500 for 90-minute coverage. Half-day packages (4 hours, up to two locations) start at $2,500. Full-day adventure elopements with cinematic video start at $3,500. Every package includes permit consultation, location planning, edited gallery delivery, and print release.
I bring the same documentary approach I use for full weddings: I'm watching for the real moments, not directing a performance. The result is a gallery that looks like your day, not a styled shoot.
Most public lands around Taos require a commercial photography permit if a photographer is present. I handle this paperwork regularly and will walk you through the process. Most permits run $25–50. For Ghost Ranch, permits are handled directly through Ghost Ranch administration and require more lead time. I've linked a full guide to Ghost Ranch permits in the related reading below.
Taos has one of the most welcoming communities in New Mexico for LGBTQ+ couples. I photograph all couples, all ceremonies, all configurations — enthusiastically and without reservation. If you're planning a same-sex elopement in the Taos area, reach out.
Yes. The Rio Grande Gorge and surrounding BLM land require a permit for commercial photography. I help coordinate the permit process as part of booking. Costs are typically $25–$50 and require a few weeks' advance notice.
The Rio Grande Gorge is the most dramatic. Diablo Canyon offers similar drama with fewer crowds. For a quieter feel, Arroyo Seco or the hills around Taos provide a more intimate backdrop. I'll help you choose based on your vision and the time of year.

Yes — it's about 90 minutes between the two. Some couples do sunrise at the Rio Grande Gorge and golden hour in Santa Fe. I've done this several times and it works well with the right timeline.
Absolutely. All couples, all ceremonies. Taos has a long history as a welcoming community and I'm proud to be part of that.
