Why New Mexico for Weddings

New Mexico is one of the few places where the landscape, light, and culture converge to create genuinely distinctive weddings. The high desert light is different — clearer, more dimensional, and more forgiving than anywhere else. The adobe architecture reads on camera in ways that modern venues cannot replicate. And the multicultural traditions, from Pueblo ceremonies to Mexican colonial history to contemporary artist culture, mean that no two weddings feel the same.

It's also a place where couples find authenticity. You're not competing with thousands of other weddings at a branded resort. You're creating something that belongs to you, in a landscape that has held ceremonies for centuries.

"Casey understood the New Mexico light in a way that made every photo feel like it was shot in another era — the best era."
— Elena & Marcus, Santa Fe Wedding ★★★★★

Regions I Cover

Santa Fe

My home territory. I've shot at 50+ venues here and know the light at every time of day and season. Bishop's Lodge, Four Seasons Rancho Encantado, La Fonda, The Mystic, Loretto Chapel, Sunrise Springs, Museum Hill, and Ghost Ranch — I've been to all of them many times. That kind of repetition means I know which spots photograph best in which conditions, and I can anticipate light and logistics before the day even starts.

Albuquerque

45 minutes south. Hotel Albuquerque, Los Poblanos Historic Inn, Sandia Resort, Hyatt Regency Tamaya, Casa Esencia, and Isleta Resort are all venues I know well. Albuquerque has genuine character — Old Town charm, mountain backdrop, and a more relaxed energy than Santa Fe. I shoot here regularly and charge no travel fee.

Taos

80 minutes north. One of the most visually distinctive towns in the state. El Monte Sagrado, Rio Grande Gorge, and the Taos Pueblo area create a genuinely unique landscape. The light here is ethereal — high altitude, clear sky, and terrain that photographs dramatically in every season.

Beyond

Ghost Ranch and Abiquiú, Tent Rocks, Jemez Springs, Ruidoso, Las Cruces — I've worked across the state. New Mexico offers an incredible range of landscapes within a few hours' drive, and I'm prepared to go wherever the right wedding is.

"He found light and moments in the landscape that we didn't even see. That's the definition of a good photographer."
— James & Sophie, Ghost Ranch Wedding ★★★★★

Photo and Video — One Vendor

Casey Addason Photography covers both photo and video. You don't need to coordinate two separate vendors, two separate timelines, or two separate personalities on your wedding day. Hybrid packages combine cinematic film with documentary photography — typically at a lower combined cost than booking them separately and with a much more coherent final product.

My Approach

Documentary means I'm watching what's actually happening — not staging moments, not herding people into positions, not pausing the day to manufacture shots. I'm a musician and performer as well as a photographer, which means I understand timing, reading a room, and knowing when to stay quiet and when to move. Clients describe me as easy-going, invisible when I need to be, and very fast with a camera when something real happens.

The result is a gallery that looks like your wedding, not a template of one.

Reviews and Track Record

I have 90+ five-star reviews across Google, The Knot, WeddingWire, and Thumbtack — all from real clients, all at 5.0. I've been shooting weddings in New Mexico for years, and I've never missed a shot that mattered to a couple because I was in the wrong place or unprepared for the light.
