Luxury Santa Fe Venue
My most photographed venue. Deep knowledge of light, timing, and ceremony locations. Photo and video. Now booking 2026 & 2027.
Check AvailabilityBishop's Lodge, Auberge Resorts Collection, is the venue I've photographed more than any other in Santa Fe. That's not accidental. It's the result of working there year-round, learning the light at different seasons, understanding the ceremony and reception options, and building relationships with the staff and coordinators who make the day run.
That depth of knowledge translates directly into better photographs. I know where to stand for golden hour. I know which ceremony backdrop has western exposure issues in summer. I know the walk time from the chapel to the great lawn when someone's wearing heels. I know how the cottonwood grove looks in October at 5:30 PM — the gold is something you have to see in person to believe.
Wedding photography at a venue as refined and complex as Bishop's Lodge isn't about showing up with a camera. It's about understanding the space so completely that you can anticipate moments, position yourself before they happen, and make invisible adjustments to light and framing that the clients will feel but never see the mechanics of.

Bishop's Lodge has multiple ceremony options, each with distinct lighting characteristics and timing considerations:
Spring (March–May) — Golden hour extends long. Mountain light is clear and directional. Afternoons can have strong shadows; I typically recommend late afternoon ceremonies (4–5 PM) to catch the best angle. Wildflowers bloom on the grounds — this is a beautiful time to shoot.
Summer (June–August) — High altitude sun is intense. Midday ceremonies require careful positioning and full sun coverage with thought to shadows. The cottonwood grove is cooler and more forgiving. Late afternoon ceremonies (5–6 PM) work well, though June light can be long and sometimes washed out. I always scout and plan backup approaches for summer.
Fall (September–November) — Peak season for Santa Fe weddings and the reason why: the light is perfect. Clear blue skies, warm golden hour light, lower angle sun means fewer harsh shadows. The cottonwood grove transitions to gold. This is when Bishop's Lodge photographs best, and demand reflects it — if you're booking fall, book 12–18 months in advance.
Winter (December–February) — Clean, clear light with longer shadows. The property has less vegetation visual noise. Ceremonies often shift earlier in the day or indoors. Snow transforms Bishop's Lodge into something starkly beautiful, though not guaranteed. Indoor backup spaces are important to plan for.
The walk from the chapel to the great lawn is about 8–10 minutes depending on guest mobility. I account for this in timeline planning — it's the natural break point between ceremony coverage and cocktail hour. The great lawn is expansive enough for lawn games, cocktail setups, and candid moments without feeling crowded. Evening light on the lawn is photographer-friendly; I typically recommend ceremony wrap-up that allows 30–45 minutes of golden hour work before sunset.
The venue has coordinated vendor relationships and staff who move with professional efficiency. This makes my job easier and means I can focus on moments rather than logistics. I know the timeline rhythm of a Bishop's Lodge wedding because I've done it dozens of times.
Thoughtful, professional, collaborative approach. Casey made us feel at ease the entire day.— Jamie K., Bishop's Lodge Wedding ★★★★★
Casey Addason Photography covers both photo and video at Bishop's Lodge. You don't need to book two separate vendors or manage two different personalities during your ceremony. Hybrid packages combine cinematic film coverage with documentary photography — and typically cost less than booking them separately while delivering more cohesive final products.
Showing up with technical skill is baseline. Knowing your venue — its light, its geometry, its culture, its rhythm — is what separates forgettable coverage from work that feels true to who you are and where you're marrying.
At Bishop's Lodge, I know which vendor relationships matter. I know which coordinator is the key decision-maker. I know where the staff will position themselves so I can move freely. I know which ceremony locations have sound issues, which have backlight problems, and which photograph like they were designed for wedding photography (because they kind of were).
I also know this: Bishop's Lodge attracts couples who have thought carefully about their wedding. You've chosen a refined, intentional venue. You want a photographer who matches that intention with the same level of planning and craft.
Wedding packages start at $3,500 for full-day coverage. Bishop's Lodge weddings often benefit from additional pre-ceremony time on the grounds for portrait sessions and ceremony location scouting. I offer flexible packages; reach out with your date and timeline and I'll build a quote that matches your needs and day structure.

Bishop's Lodge has multiple ceremony options: the historic chapel (limited light, intimate), the ceremony terrace (mountain backdrop, afternoon light exposure), and the cottonwood grove (dappled light, golden hour magic, ideal for October weddings). Each location has distinct lighting characteristics and timing considerations.
Yes. I've worked with Bishop's Lodge coordinators, planners, and vendors extensively. I know the timing between ceremony locations, the best arrival windows for golden hour, the backup indoor spaces, and how the venue's operations flow. This familiarity allows me to anticipate moments and position myself effectively throughout the day.
Bishop's Lodge has excellent covered and indoor ceremony backup spaces. I'm familiar with the light quality in each (typically requires additional lighting consideration). I always scout and plan for weather contingencies — you won't see a compromise in image quality if we pivot indoors.
Yes. I photograph all couples, all ceremonies, all configurations — without qualification.
