What a Santa Fe Headshot Actually Costs in 2026

I get this question in some form every week, usually from someone whose LinkedIn photo is a cropped wedding shot and who now needs something professional for a board bio, a press release, or a new job. The answer depends on three things: whether it is an individual session or a team session, whether you need the photo delivered the same day, and whether you want a studio backdrop or an on-location setting. Here is the full breakdown.

Individual Headshot Session — $350

A 30-minute individual session at your office, my studio space, or an outdoor location in Santa Fe or Albuquerque. You get two backgrounds, roughly 20 to 30 usable frames, and three fully retouched finals delivered within 48 hours. I bring portable lighting and a backdrop, which means the session looks professional regardless of where we shoot. Same-day delivery is available for a $100 rush add-on if you need the photo before end of day.

This is the package I recommend for executives, founders, attorneys, real estate agents, and anyone who needs a single clean headshot for professional use.

Team Headshots On-Site — $150 Per Person

I come to your office or a venue of your choice and photograph each team member in 10 to 15 minutes. Setup takes 30 minutes at the start, then I rotate people through in an assembly-line format that keeps everyone moving. A team of 20 takes about four hours from setup to last subject. Same-day delivery is standard for team sessions because I edit between subjects and have the full set ready to hand off within a business day.

The per-person rate drops at scale. Teams over 15 people typically negotiate a flat day rate instead of per-head pricing. I work with law firms, corporate offices, and medical practices in Santa Fe and Albuquerque on this basis.

Headshot Station at an Event — Custom Quote

When I cover a corporate event, I often set up a headshot station during downtime between sessions. Attendees stop by, get photographed in 10 minutes, and leave with their fresh headshot in their inbox by the time they get home. This is a strong add-on for conferences and retreats because it delivers real value to attendees and reduces the number of separate sessions a company has to schedule.

Pricing for event headshot stations is built into my corporate event photography packages and quoted per event. The more attendees you expect to run through the station, the better the per-head rate.

What Is and Is Not Included

My headshot packages include full commercial usage rights. That means you can use the image anywhere — LinkedIn, company website, press releases, marketing materials, social media — without paying additional licensing fees. I do not charge per-use and I do not restrict your use of the image after delivery. This is not standard across all photographers in Santa Fe, so it is worth confirming when you compare quotes.

Retouching is included for the three or five images you choose as your finals, depending on the package. Retouching means skin smoothing that keeps your face looking like your face, clothing adjustment (pulling a collar straight, removing lint), and subtle background cleanup. A neutral indoor location. For individual sessions that need a clean professional look without hauling gear to an office, I use one of a few private locations in Santa Fe that I have worked at before. These give you a modern interior with controlled light.

Outdoors with Santa Fe context. For clients who want their headshot to feel grounded in place — executives at resort properties, artists, creative professionals — we shoot outside with the light and the architecture of Santa Fe working as the backdrop. This takes more planning because we have to match the session time to the sun, but the results have a distinct sense of place that a studio backdrop can not give you.

How Much Should a Headshot Session Actually Cost?

Anything under $200 for an individual session is likely to have hidden costs. Either you get minimal retouching, limited usage rights, a tiny number of delivered images, or a photographer who is trying to build a portfolio and has not done enough sessions yet. The $350 rate reflects the setup, shoot, edit, and delivery time for a single session with professional-grade results and full usage rights.

Anything over $800 for an individual headshot session is typically studio overhead or branding-session pricing. If you are getting a full branding shoot with multiple outfit changes, styled sets, and 20 delivered finals, that price makes sense. If you are getting a LinkedIn photo, it does not.

Team rates should scale down, not up. If a photographer quotes you $300 per person for a team of 15, they are either unwilling to do the session or unfamiliar with how a team session runs. The efficiency of setting up lights once and rotating people through should reduce the per-head cost, not raise it.

How to Book a Santa Fe Headshot Session

Turnaround from first email to session is usually one to two weeks, depending on my schedule. For urgent requests — board bio due Friday, new job starts Monday — I can often fit an individual session in within 48 hours if you contact me directly. Team sessions need more lead time because I schedule them around weddings and events, and those are booked months in advance.
